Filler

(I have a firm belief in truthful blog titles.)

While waiting for my birthday pictures to download correctly - which has been over 24hours and counting... I decided to post a couple of inspirational quotes from a devotional I read about every other year. This is my "off year" from it, (btw, Lea, those "quote marks" are for "you", "dear friend"), and I find myself reading back over certain highlighted sections even when I don't HAVE to. HAVE TO, as in the devotional police would come get me if I didn't read the correct material on the correct day for the correct amount of time.

The quotes are from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers.

"If we will do the duty that lies nearest, we shall see Him."

Profundity in few words. I should make that my blog line....'cept my laptop would probably be hit by lightening.

Again from Chambers-
"Immediately you obey, a flash of light comes. Let God's truth work in you by soaking it in, not by worrying into it. Obey God in the thing he shows you, and instantly the next thing He shows you, and instantly the next thing is opened up.
You may say, 'I suppose I shall understand these things some day!' You can understand them now. It is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience , and heaven opens and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away. God will never reveal more truth about Himself until you have obeyed what you already know."

Plenty to think about while you wait for the pictures of my birthday meal and presents. Wait till you see what I got four of! From four different people, no less.
(Hint: Think yarn.)

Oswald Chambers was a man sooo full of wisdom. I have that book, too! Sometimes it takes me DAYS to understand one paragraph! Sometimes, I have to ponder and ponder before the lightbulb comes on... Shallow, yes, that must be me. But I'm working on that 'obedience' thing!

Hmmm...something with yarn? Must be something for that fabulous hair!

i have always loved this quote (this is a paraphrase of it because i don't have it in front of me)...

"it is not more knowledge of God that leads to our growth...
it is more obedience to Him."

i love to pursue knowledge, yet will avoid the obedience part as long as possible (and sometimes longer). thanks for the reminder....

and will you be publishing photos of my gift to you??????? if so, i might run out and buy you something that photographs much cuter...

eva, what do you suggest from loli and the bean?

Do you read about it every other year?

Do you read it about every other year?

On with your day. I'm just searching the net for misplaced modifiers!

isn't there such a thing as a grammar checker? Oh, yeah...I already have one! Her name is Kanani :)

Only thing is- I need to send you an advance copy BEFORE I prove to the blogosphere that I misplace my modifiers.

And to answer your question -I read it about every other year.

Ignore Kanani, you are doing a great job. Good ol' Oswald - great for cutting straight to the meat.
