Oh Joy!

(Thanks to all of you who called, wrote, and picketed my house to encourage me to return to my blog. You can all pretend you're the reason I came back.)

I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my last week without the Blog Pressure. But I'd also be lying if I said I hadn't thought of a gazillion things I need to tell you.

Here's a big one -
My daughter won the "Rower of the Year" award at her Crew Banquet last week. We were all shocked since she started in the middle of the year and is only a sophomore. Pretty good for a girl who couldn't even spell 'regatta' 6 months ago. Pretty good for a girl who has a mother who not only has NO athletic ability, but also hates to get her hair wet.

She does have a fairly hunky father, though. (not to be confused with chunky)

Speaking of chunky...arms in particular, here is a picture of the Rower of the Year with the two people who made it possible. Her financier and her chauffeur.

In this next one, with her coach, you can "almost" see her medal. Take my word for it, at the bottom of that blue ribbon is a solid gold-toned medal. Crew is not a sport for wimps. It's a 6 day a week sport that uses your abs, your arms, your back and your legs. And when you're not on the water, you're on the erg machine.

When I was her age I chose the debate team over sports, which is why I can argue up a storm but my arms jiggle.

Those of you who know this particular daughter may not have seen her in a dress before. She shuns shopping. She shuns shopping by the seashore :) - or anyplace else. But I was very proud of her when she chose this conservative yellow polka-dot babydoll dress. (Even if she only chose it because it was lined and she wouldn't have to wear a slip with it.)

More later. Maybe. If I feel like it.

Keep sending encouraging notes that tell me how dull your life is without me. Chocolate would also be good. And I love the chai tea lattes at Panera. I'm pretty sure they have gift cards.

I was happy to see a blog post from you today! Congrats to MF! Great Job! It is quite fun for us non-athletic moms to glory in the athletic accomplishments of our kids! Enjoy! And blog again soon!

That is one sport I would like to try. And, I have to say that I might have chosen the dress for the same reason. I really don't like having to be concerned with a slip.

Even though I'm too busy to catch up on my bloggy reading more than once a week, it was really good to see a new post! You crack me up, as always.
