Alive and well, ....alive

I guess the Blog Honeymoon is definitely over for us, dear readers. It used to be that if I was gone, even overnight, you would worry about me and leave sweet comments asking me to please come back to you.

Not that I don't share the blame for the stalled relationship - I mean, I left without even leaving a Post-It note, much less an explanation of where I'd be or when I'd return.

If it makes you feel any less abandoned, I did think about you (a couple times)during my absence. And it's not like I was two-timing or anything. I just needed some space. I needed to see other people (mostly my kids and their homework.)

Really, I just think our relationship was going too quickly. It was the Every Dayness that started getting to me. It felt forced and predictable.

I liked the spontaneity we used to have when we first began. The surprise element.
Would I post or not? Would you comment or not? Would I move furniture around and take a picture of it, or not?

And BTW, since we're back on good terms, I would just like to make a little confession to you. (It's a death wish for a connubial friendship when you start keeping secrets. Trust me.)

I did indeed move some furniture around while I was away from you.

I'm sorry. I know this is a problem area for me and I plan on getting help. Later today, or tomorrow at the latest, and for sure before the end of the month. I'll look in the yellow pages for Furniture Movers Anonymous and find out when they meet (if they haven't relocated ....ha!ha!)

In the mean time.....You should see how great everything's looking around here!

My cozy kitchen "office" has resumed its previous function as a breakfast room. In my usual selfless manner, I once again put my own wishes and desires on the back burner (way....back....as in Not Even On the Stove Anymore), and realized my family needed a table in the kitchen. It's just better for everyone (else)this way.

And it certainly didn't hurt that I saw an adorable picture in Cottage Living magazine of a breakfast room strikingly similar to ours, with a cute hutch, a round table (with a laptop open on it, to give the impression that the round table was a table/desk duo), and three glossy black ladder-back chairs. So I simply duplicated it in my kitchen.

Out went the comfy floral chair, Out went the french looking white desk, Out went the perfect black patio table that the HOH thought was uncomfortable to eat at - and In came the round table from the Foy-A, and In came the newly spray painted ladder back chairs.

Decorating is as simple as that. You just decide the best thing to do, get the paint out, spray away, take two ibuprofen, and start moving heavy objects - by yourself or with a friend. (Personally, my friends feel they're enabling me if I ask them to pick up one end of a couch...)

The not so simple part was moving another table into the Foy-A, moving the old island into the dining room to be used as a sideboard now that the round table is in the Foy-A, then moving my bedroom around to make up for the missing sideboard.

Oh, and while the ibuprofen was at it's maximum efficiency, I also moved the living room around One Last Time. Man, it looks good. Even better than the last time. Or the time before that. I'm (almost) 100% sure it will stay this way.

So, that's basically what I've been up to during my Unannounced Blog Sabbatical.

Anything going on in your life?

I'm glad you're back. September to Remember wore me out. I don't think I've posted a thing since October 1st.

Will you post kitchen pictures soon?

Too funny...apparently you decorator types make it worse for each other by justifying your behavior and calling it totally normal and reasonable. The Nester seems to have your same problem.

What are we up to...working on Christmas cards, cleaning the house (several weekends of company coming up), reading lots of children's books, and trying to teach Adeline to use silverware.

I, also, have been moving furniture -- but mine was justified. I am Making Room For Baby. I figured it would probably be good to move the dog kennel out of his room...don't want people to get the impression that we are Those People who think that their pets are children, too.
I think you need to bribe Lea to come over + take more pictures, since nothing is the same as it was before. You might have to just hire her to come over on a regular basis, if you keep moving stuff at this rate.

Imagine, coming home the 2nd time in less than a month after having been gone a week and finding the kitchen-changed; the living room-changed; the foy-a--changed; my bedroom-changed; not to mention stumbling into the bathroom in the middle of the night and tripping over a new decorator stack of magazines between the door and the light----oh the things we tolerate for love. Your HOH

Mrs. Lancaster and I had a good laugh at the retreat as we listened to one of the ladies at church talk about how her daughter freaked out at any kind of change. When the mom moved the living room around she cried every time she went into the room for a week...wouldn't my kids be in trouble if that were the case? Everything in our whole house has been rearranged in the last year... (But it's not the same as what you are doing...more along the lines of Jax's excuse.)

I can't wait to see the new arrangements - maybe when i drop by to visit my new "children" ?!

Brite and Jacqueline - your comments made me smile. I can't wait for each of you to have your babies. I will look forward to buying some cute boy clothes for you - I think I have bought all the little girls clothes that are out at the minute :( (not that we need any more girl clothes!!)

Welcome back!

No hard feelings on the non-existent post warning us of your bloggy-break. We all need to actually live our lives for a bit without the pressure of coming up with something to write about in our lives that isn't actually happening (that's how it is for me, anyway:-)

Looking forward to Lea's pics of your new room arrangements!

it is the special selfless acts that you so often do, that make you the debbie we know and love. Did the desk really have to go? it was so cute.

Debbie, I've been slightly MIA in most of the blogging world recently. A fun visit from my out-of-state mother-in-law (as opposed to my in-state one? what???) set me back.

Anyway, it's always a delight to visit your blog. You make me laugh every single time I'm here.

Now I have the fun of going back through your older posts to catch up.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! :)

So, do I need to come over again so I can see what you have done in the last week?
