Red

Red is the new blue.

It's a great accent color and really gives 'punch' to a room.
It doesn't go super well with orange...but with that one exception, it's a nice complement to every other color.

Red just sort of grew on me. Like a rash. But not so itchy :)

I guess the previous owners of this house did not get the realtor's memo about painting every room neutral and blah in order to sell the house. I just love my red toile plates on the green walls.

And I amaze myself with how daring I was to buy a red loveseat. (Especially since I bought it to go in my previous yellow-gold kitchen.) I can't tell you how I agonized over the impracticality of that decision.

But I CAN tell you how satisfied and pleased I am every time I look at it.

I learned a big decorating lesson from the Red Loveseat Purchase:
Buy what you love. Figure out where to use it later :)

Here are some red corners of my home. I had to post plenty of pictures tonight because Lea got 100 (pretend) points today on her blog. Boy,...If we were keeping score I'd be worried!

It looks like you could have the entire population of Tallahassee over for dinner and not need to buy disposable plates.

As you know, I am totally into your red theme. It does work so well with so many colors.

I love red! I'm addicted to red! I'll give you 50 points for all of your red accent pieces (even though you posted the same plate picture twice:-)

Shepherd, have you lived out of town so long that you've already forgotten that your mother LOVES disposable plates - and NAPKINS, especially napkins. I have company over JUST TO USE my beautiful disposable plates and napkins.

Plus...the real plates don't sit so well on the table with those pesky plate hangers attached to the back.

Kelly-
It's not the EXACT same picture - so I'm glad you didn't deduct any points from me. Lea and I were trying to go for the "far away picture....then closer picture of the SAME objects".

Geesh...Don't you know anything about photography? (I don't. That's why I keep Lea around.)

I love red. Does it really not go with orange? I'm thinking about the autumn stuff I see, the reds, oranges, and yellows. I probably would not care to live with red and orange year-round though.

Lori-
When God puts it together, orange and red go "perfectly" :), but when we try to do it....
Not so much..

As much as I love red in my wardrobe, I'm surprised there is NOTHING red in my house (yet). Once I recover that couch and make some new pillows we'll be enjoying it in the living room at least. Also, how are those two pictures different? I've gone back and forth several times and they look exactly the same to me, too.

OK, ya'll - you have to be a tad more specific when you say "plate picture". I thought you meant the red toile plates on the green wall. The ones that are pictured once with the chair in the foreground and again close up.

Now, I see what Kelley was talking about. And I'll correct it right away before I lose any more points!

Whoever (whomever?) is keeping the point tally needs to make note that a Single Male commented on my blog yesterday. He goes by the mysterious db, but I totally recognized his typing.

Single Male commenting on decorating post - 1000 points (at least!)
