Forced Bedrest

No, I'm not pregnant. I used to add "at least that I know of",
but now it's more like "thank God". It's not that I don't love children, or trust in the Sovereignty of God - it's just that to be 52yo with morning sickness and (even more) varicose veins is not something I long for. Then there's the fact that I'm already going to be homeschooling for over 30 years by the time my two youngest graduate. If I was pregnant now, I'd be 70 at my Homeschool Retirement Party and I'd have to read my Teaching Home magazines with one of those extra-large magnifying glasses. I'm already starting to feel a little out of place at the homeschool conventions where nary a denim jumper can be found these days.

But I digress.

I'm just logging on this morning to tell my loyal readers (both of you) that I have the flu. I knew you'd want to know. And by flu, I mean this:

in·flu·en·za /ˌɪnfluˈɛnzə/ Pronunciation Key in-floo-en-zuh]
–noun 1. Pathology. an acute, commonly epidemic disease, occurring in several forms, caused by numerous rapidly mutating viral strains and characterized by respiratory symptoms and general prostration.

And I thought the reason I was so tired was because of the incessant coughing, the fever, and the lack of sleep, but it must be those rapidly mutating viral strains that are wearing me out. But, I do like the sound of general prostration. That sounds much more serious than bedrest. Maybe the next time the kids come in my room, for the fiftieth time this morning, I'll read them that definition and it will scare them back to the TV.

Pray for me, would you? There's never a good time for a mommy to be sick - but we are closing on our new house in a little more than a week, and I have not packed the first box. (Note to husband: Although I haven't actually started packing, during the time I have been "generally prostrate" I have made lots of detailed mental plans concerning the packing process so that when I finally do get out of bed, I'm sure the packing will go very, very quickly. And by the way, honey....What's for dinner?)

As always, you absolutely crack me up. God has indeed blessed you with a great sense of humor!

Even though I'm grinning as I write this, I am truly sorry that you're afflicted with the flu. I hope you recover quickly...and that you can somehow relax and enjoy your General Prostration. (Now, which war did he fight in??? I just can't remember...)

never fear... wonder packer is here (and by here, i mean in tallahassee and will come over one day and help you pack as soon as you are not going to cough on me and make me sick)....

oh my dear... if i lived nearby i would come and help you pack!

but then again you probably wouldn't let me into your house, because after all we don't really know each other now do we? and i could be some kind of weird-internet-stawker-type person who is merely *posing* as a pudgy little old single mama...

i'll just pray for ya instead:-)

Hey Mom!
Sorry I am not there to help. On the other hand, I am having fun NOT being sick here!

Feeling better over here in BoxLand. Several rooms are practically uninhabitable...which I guess is part of the process.

I still have a sore throat and raspy voice, but I'm starting to like the sound of it :) Sort of Kathleen Turner-ish!
